As a three-sport athlete in volleyball, track & field and girls basketball, she wasn't able to dedicate all of her time to just one sport.

So Thompson and her mom, Tammi, came up with a plan.

"My mom got me involved in a berecuited.com website, where interested coaches could look at a profile page I put up, and they could contact me through it," explained Kristin. "And we got over 100 hits from college coaches."

Twenty college programs contacted Thompson directly. Several of the programs were beyong her travel budget, but Thompson, who is interested in pre-med, did pay visits to nearby Wittenberg University in Springfield and Robert Morris University near Pittsburg.

Last week Thompson, a Monroe resident, signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Division I Robert Morris on a full-ride scholarship.

"(Robert Morris) coach (Dale) Starr coaches a lot like (Fenwick coach) Yoon Ha does here," Thompson said. "He expects a lot out of his players, and I like that."

She credits her mom and dad (John) for instilling a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.

"To be honest, theres a few hundred kids like her out there," Fenwick coach Yoon Ha said. 'For her to be selected, most of that comes down to attitude and that hard work ethic, and she has that."

Explosion FItness Solutions Mason http://www.explosionfitnesssolutions.com/pages/news/entry/9 Fri, 18 Nov 2011 01:27:05 EST http://www.explosionfitnesssolutions.com/pages/news/entry/9
Well the time has finally come that Explosion Fitness will be combining efforts with Beckett Ridge and Elite Chiropractic to open our new state of the art training center. We are anticipating starting to see new clients by December 1st of 2011.
